Counseling

Make an appointment for individual advising to discuss your job search, review your resume and cover letters, explore and clarify your career path, develop an effective job search strategy, and prepare for interviews. Programming

Throughout the year, 丝瓜APP hosts special programming for alumni. Events include networking forums, job search panels, mentor meet-ups, and informational presentations. Recognizing that timing and travel are an issue for some, we conduct programming via webinar and/or pre-recorded video. If you are interested in getting involved in these events, contact the Office of Academic Planning and Career Development.

Reciprocity

If you are job searching in another part of the country, 丝瓜APP may be able to help you obtain reciprocity to use another law school鈥檚 career office in the region in which you are relocating for a period of up to three months. Reciprocity allows law schools to provide reasonable access to their career resources for graduates and students from other law schools that agree to provide similar services. The exact services provided may vary at different law schools, but often include access to the law schools鈥� internal job boards. To request reciprocity with an out-of-state career office, contact the Office of Academic Planning and Career Development.

Join the 丝瓜APP Professional Network

Become an Alumni Mentor

If you are listed in the 丝瓜APP Professional Network database as a potential mentor, students may reach out to you directly to request a mentoring relationship. As part of the mentoring relationship, mentors and mentees make a commitment to meet at least three times during the year. During these meetings, we encourage you to discuss and refine your mentee鈥檚 career goals, share information about your law practice, and refer mentees to fellow alumni and other professional contacts.

Help Students Practice Interviewing

Conduct mock interviews with students virtually or in person. Interviews are scheduled on a day and time convenient for you and each typically lasts 30 minutes. The Office of Academic Planning and Career Development coordinates mock interviews for students immediately preceding coordinated recruitment programs (typically in summer, fall, and early spring). In addition, individual interviews may be scheduled on an ad hoc basis throughout the year.

Take Part in a Career Program

The Office of Academic Planning and Career Development hosts a variety of programs throughout the year, and we are always looking for alumni to serve on a career panel, come to a practice area lunch, and participate in networking events with our students. In addition, there are opportunities for alumni to participate in more informal meetings with students during the fall and spring semesters.
